Our resident Mocking Bird isn't doing much singing right now but stays close around our house.

The Band Stand

The band stand  decorated and the patches of snow on the ground make this a classic winter scene in downtown Prescott.

The Powder Box Church

Just because I haven't posted a picture of it for a while, here is a picture of my favorite building in Jerome.
The Powder Box Church, now a private residence, was built from old dynamite crates by the mine workers in 1939. It was called the Mexican Methodist Church until the closing of the mine.

Trails And Warnings

Sometimes there are warning signs in the parks and along the trails that remind us of how close to nature we are.
This is the Peavine Trail that runs along the east side of Watson Lake in Prescott. The mountain lion warning sign was at the junction with the Iron King Trail that connects Prescott and Prescott Valley, part of the rails to trails project.

Brighty Of The Grand Canyon

You can see this adorable life size bronze sculpture in the lodge at the North Rim of The Grand Canyon.
Brighty was made famous by the 1953 children's novel by author Marguerite Henry which was a work of fiction based on a real life burro who lived in the Canyon between about 1892 to 1922.

Today is one of those crazy dates....12/12/12.

Store Front

It looks as if only a small portion of the big building in Jerome is being used. Most of those windows on the upper floors are boarded up. It would be great to see this old place all fixed up.

Granite Mountain

This is just one of those snapshots that I took out the window while riding along the highway. The Sun shining through the clouds was what caught my eye.

Yard Art?

I saw this while riding my bike. I'm not sure what it means but thought it was kind of interesting.

This little house is in downtown Prescott. The tower on top of the hill is the bell tower of Sacred Heart Church.
