What an oddity. I doubt you would ever see a marker telling who the architect was for this design.
What a fascinating photo. This, too, could be used with great effect as a cover for a mystery novel. Reminds me of the old country song "Behind Closed Doors."
Oh yes, this does make you wonder what the purpose was, where it went, and who walked through it.
