I went back and got some close up shots of the sculpture that I posted yesterday. This one shows the shovel and the decapitated rattlesnake.
This is the snake head, on the ground by the hem of her skirt.
I do have to say, I am not as brave as this woman. On the rare occasions that I have seen a rattlesnake, I have left them alone and moved out of striking distance as fast as possible.
I think your approach to rattlesnakes is wiser than the one taken by this woman whose derring-do has been sculpted for all to see! It is possible that the length of a shovel is not long enough to avoid the bite of the snake. :)
ReplyDeleteHmmm. I'm sure I would not have been as brave either!
ReplyDeleteShe appears to be the epitome of a “formidable woman”.
ReplyDeleteI keep wondering "why the blue sash?"
ReplyDeleteI assume the sash is in honor of the firefighters who perished in Yarnell. Not quite the purple color but close.
ReplyDeleteShe's my hero!
ReplyDeleteSame here :-)
ReplyDeleteI like the way there is some color added around this sculpture. Sculptures of this kind sometimes appear a little bit sad to me.
