Torch Lily

Also known as 'Red Hot Poker', the scientific name of this plant is 'Kniphofia Uvaria'. The flowers bloom on top of 3 to 5 foot stems.  Being a very hardy plant, in some areas, this plant has become invasive and is considered a weed.
Every time I see these flowers I think of those little orange and yellow Halloween candies.

  1. These are wonderful. Never seen them before. Red Hot Poker is a perfect name. I thought of those candies, too! Must have grown up in the same era.

  3. I don't think I have seen these before. I also don't think that I will remember the scientific name.
