New Life
This is a baby Mockingbird on it's first day out of the nest. The parents were close by and making some noise to warn either me or the baby, but it stayed put and let me get a few pictures. It looks a little too young to be out in the world.
What a sweet find. We call birds' small ones "yellow-mouthed", and use this word to indicate human babies, too. Thank you for your comments and for your kind reaction to my inattention.

That name just reminds me to kill a mocking bird.
Cute looking baby bird I see here
It looks a bit scared. And no wonder. There's a big dangerous world waiting for it out there.
That first day is always tough! Kinda like heading to kindergarten for the first time. I'm amazed you were able to get such a great photo of it!
What a cute shot! Those parent birds can raise quite a ruckus when they don't want you or some other animal close to their nest.
What an amazing picture! They are still my favorite bird and I love having babies in the yard. Great job, Judy!
Super-sweet!
Excellent close up. He does look a little stunned.

Remarkable to get a photo of a one day old bird. Maybe you should have fed it a worm to curry favor with the nearby mother.
