Not A Dog

While driving in Prescott Valley on Tuesday, I saw what I thought was a stray dog, as I got closer I realized it was not a dog, it was a coyote out hunting in town in daylight. Keep your cats in the house!

More and more wild animals are forced to hunt "in town" due to habitat destruction. Sad.

We have these at times walking in our gated subdivision in the heart of Scottsdale, just a mile from Scottsdale Fashion Square.

I have read that coyotes have made quite a comeback in many of our communities. We've got a bunch here in Stone Creek. I think one of them got a cat the other day, although a local alligator was blamed and executed for the crime.

He's a cute little rascal!

There was one following Star and I on our walk one evening. Luckily, Star never saw it or she would have wanted to play.

Nice shot! He is very intent on his prey. I've seen them while walking the dog and they pretty much ignore us.( I have a large dog)

Wow, great capture! Sounds like it would be a good idea to keep all of your small animals inside.

My friend, Tom, in Cambria, California, lost an old pet cat recently. He said the cat just disappeared. I told him that outdoor cats in Arizona can become "coyote candy."

You got some really good shot of this little guy.

Oh, my. We have these roaming around the periphery of our rural neighborhood as well. The kids used to hear them at night when they would camp out in the back yard!
