The Flying Red Horse

These signs are now very collectible and considered art. I remember when they indicated a place to fill up your car with gasoline.

  1. I had forgotten all about the red horse with the wings. Thanks for the memories.

  2. Corporate logos used to be more elegant than the modernist designs popular now.

  3. A very famous gasoline icon. Big one, too. Don't know that one would do with this.

  4. That sign is in VERY good shape. I recall it and the old gas pumps with great fondness.

  8. This makes me want to take a trip to Jacksonville, TX, about 50 miles from here and photograph an old vacant Mobil gas station that sports about 10 flying red horse signs. I remember as a child when we would drive through Dallas at night the tallest building on the skyline had a flying red horse on the roof. My dad was always the first one to spot it!
