This makes me want to take a trip to Jacksonville, TX, about 50 miles from here and photograph an old vacant Mobil gas station that sports about 10 flying red horse signs. I remember as a child when we would drive through Dallas at night the tallest building on the skyline had a flying red horse on the roof. My dad was always the first one to spot it!
I had forgotten all about the red horse with the wings. Thanks for the memories.
ReplyDeleteCorporate logos used to be more elegant than the modernist designs popular now.
ReplyDeleteA very famous gasoline icon. Big one, too. Don't know that one would do with this.
ReplyDeleteThat sign is in VERY good shape. I recall it and the old gas pumps with great fondness.
ReplyDeleteI love this! I remember when there was one just down the street from our house in Quincy.
ReplyDeleteSocony, wasn't it? I remember the horse, too.
ReplyDeleteGreat find. I would love to have one.
