Space Capsule

On display at Meteor Crater in Northern Arizona is an Apollo Space capsule used for training astronauts at the Crater. From 1964 through 1972, the U.S. Geological Survey and NASA provided extensive science training here.
Astronauts still train here today.

Wednesday Window...With A View

A viewing window at Meteor Crater in Northern Arizona.

Meteor Crater

The other big hole in the ground in Northern Arizona is Meteor Crater. From this picture that I took, it's hard to tell exactly how big the crater is. To get an idea of it's size, you could fit twenty football fields on its floor and it is sixty stories deep. 

To get a better idea of the size of the crater, I took a picture of a picture in the museum of a view from the air of the crater with the road, parking lot, museum and other buildings on the rim in the lower part of the picture. 

The picture above is of the largest fragment of the meteor that was found. 

This large fragment is on display at the museum.
