Driving To Alaska...Watson Lake

This is the Watson Lake Signposts. If your city is missing a welcome sign, chances are it's here.

That yellow one made us realize just how far we had driven so far.

This sign below explains how it all got started.

And of course, we had to add a sign of our own.

Driving To Alaska...Changing Weather

Another weekend so I am continuing the Alaska Road trip series. Near Hudson's Hope we crossed this beautiful bridge in a light drizzle of rain and later began the climb up into the Rockies.

The rain turned to snow as we approached the summit of Pink Mountain. Luckily we were following a snow plow. By the time we reached the top we were in a white out. Later we heard they closed the road an hour later.

At Laird Hot Springs Provencal Park the sun was shining and it was much warmer. There were some young people taking a dip in the hot water and at one end of the pool the water is so hot that there is a warning sign.

Driving To Alaska...Bad Road

Continuing the Alaska Road Trip, many miles of the Alaska Highway looked like this, or worse. But as we drove slowly along we caught glimpses of deer, elk, bears, moose and  a wolf along the tree line. None of which I was fast enough to get a good picture of.

This is the welcoming sign that let us know we had crossed into Canada's Yukon. "The Magic And The Mystery"  indeed!
