It's time for "Chalk It Up Prescott" once again and as usual there are some very talented artists participating. This is Lori Escalera working on a lovely portrait. The artwork is done on the pavement in the Summit bank parking lot. This is the third year for this event.

That huge full moon reminded me of this portrait. I took this picture of my sons wolf mix dog many years ago. It is a double exposure on 35mm film.

Chapel Of The Valley

Here is a close up view of the Chapel that I showed you in yesterdays post. I posted this Chapel back in February of 2009 but I think it is worth another look. This history is from that previous post.

A dream of Johnie Lee Fain and her daughter Carolyn “Sue” Fain, was to build a chapel nestled in the lap of nature. In 2000 that dream was realized but not until a year after she had passed away. The sanctuary was built with money donated by Johnie's daughter Sue, as a final tribute to her Mother's vision. The chapel was completed in 2000. Sue Fain passed away in 2001 leaving this truly extraordinary gift. The Chapel sits on a hill overlooking Fain Park, which includes a peaceful lake, waterfalls, and a lush green picnic area shaded by trees. The land for the 100 acre park was donated to the town of Prescott Valley by the Fain family. The Chapel of the Valley is open to the public every Saturday and Sunday, and is also available for weddings, memorial services and other appropriate events.

One more post of the gaffiti under the street in the drainage tunnel. The top picture is of the tunnel itself and the second one is at the end of the tunnel with sunlight spilling in from the drainage grate above.

Theme Day....Graffiti

What lies beneath the streets of Prescott.

I saw pictures of this place on Tombo's Blog back in February of 2008, so when I saw what the theme was for October, I decided to find it myself. The entrance was kind of scary looking and I knew the graffiti was far back in the drainage tunnel under the street and I wasn't sure if I wanted to go in there but I noticed a Sheriff's deputy in a parking lot and went over and asked him if he thought it would be safe for me to go in there for some pictures. He decided to go with me and I was glad that he did. Thank you Deputy Anderson and thank you Tom for finding it first and giving a clue as to where it is.

Road Block

While traveling in Northern Arizona across the Hualapai Tribal land on the road to the Havasupai Tribal land, we encountered a road block, with police cars and police dogs and policemen, one of which was our oldest son.

Getting To The River

A helicopter ride down into the Canyon to get to the river revealed breathtaking views.

We were happy to see it return to take us back up to the rim after the cruise on the Colorado River. Grand Canyon West is the home of the Skywalk which is on Hualapai Tribal Land.

I took this shot with my little point and shoot camera while cruising the Colorado River at Grand Canyon West. Tomorrow I will post pictures of how we got to the river.

New Puppy

We brought this little boy home on August first. We found him with a rescue group in Phoenix. He had a rough start in life but he is now in his forever home and is a very happy little nine month old. He is keeping us busy and entertained. There are many wonderful shelters and rescue groups with pets that need a second chance. This little guy makes us laugh every day.
