View From The Resort

This is taken from the Prescott Resort overlooking the city last fall. The houses are a part of the VA center which used to be Fort Whipple. The mountain in the distance is Thumb Butte.

Twilight

"Heavenly Shades of night are falling. It's Twilight Time."

The View From Above

I took this picture some time ago but I really like it. This is taken from up on Thumb Butte looking over the city. See that guy up there on top of the rocks. I didn't go up there.

Theme Day...Photo Of The Year

I picked this photo for two reasons.
1. I love these Tiger swallowtails
2. I was too busy to go through all of the years photos.

Here is an extra picture for today. Yes, we have snow.

Glassford Hill

Between 10 and 14 million years ago, Glassford Hill was an active volcano.
An elevation of 6,177 feet (1883 m)
it is one of Prescott Valley's landmarks.  It was named for Colonel William A. Glassford, who traveled the area in the 1880's.

Driving To Alaska...Stone Sheep

It is the weekend again so I am continuing the Alaska road trip pictures. In the Muncho Lake area of British Columbia we didn't see many other people but there were plenty of Stone Sheep on the road. They were licking these rocks as we drove up but stopped to look at us driving by. They get some minerals that they need from these rocks.
In this picture you can see how close the rocks are to the road going through the pass. Still plenty of snow around in May.

Driving To Alaska...The Long Road Ahead

Several years ago my hubby and I set out on a road trip to Alaska. I decided to break the rules and  post some pictures of the trip on the weekends. I will start out after we crossed the international border and into beautiful British Columbia. All these pictures were taken with a 35mm SLR camera and scanned.

Gassing up at Muncho Lake,
we have many miles of extraordinary
scenery ahead.

We saw this guy guarding the entrance to
Clarke Sawmill. He looked kind of familiar.

Road Trip....Mexican Hat

There is a little town in south east Utah called "Mexican Hat"

This is how it got that name.

Homes On The Golf Course

I wonder how many broken windows they have to fix.
That is Granite Mountain in the background.
