This picture was on the back cover of the February 1960 issue of the Arizona Highways magazine. It was taken in Dewey Arizona at a the rodeo by photographer Mel Compton. The cowboy, bending over in the leather chaps, is getting his bareback rigging ready to ride that black bronc that is standing in the chute. And by the way, he is also my husband! Too bad all you can see is his rear end.
Happy Father's Day to all you Dad's out there!

Over the last 65 years I have probably made him the butt of some jokes, but I'm not going to comment on this photo.
Love that magazine! Judy, it's obvious why you fell for him...nothing wrong with his "rear end!" Wonderful to have a photo on that iconic magazine cover...the back cover is perfect for the pose!! Tell him "Happy Father's Day" from us bloggers and that he's gained some more fans!
Your post today puts a big lump in my throat. I don't know why. I don't even know you. I'm just a slobbering sentimentalist I guess.
This is special.
His back side on the back cover. It the photographer had gotten his face, he would probably have been on the front cover.
Now that's what I'd call a perfect Father's Day card!!
Happy Father's Day Chet!
Great photo for Father's Day. I admire any one who rides those broncs, pretty brave!
Wow! You married a real, live cowboy. You go, girl!
Cowboy's rear ends and Wranglers just go together so nicely. Congratulations on getting your cowboy roped and tied! :)
