I would also hope that I wouldn't get in the way of a "runaway!"

I hope that no one has to use it.

Is this in Flagstaff? I have seen them there before.

This is a wonderful picture. I'm loving your composition and balance. My eye just keeps going from the pops of yellow and back. Then I want to continue on around that curve and see where the road takes me. I love this shot.

Yes, those ramps look very scary!

Lots of these in the mountains of Colorado. Some of them didn't look like they went far enough to me...but I guess the steepness would help stop the runaway.

But I'm glad it's available.

If it's the one outside of Camp Verde it was built because a runaway truck wiped out an entire family traveling through the area! These are needed in more mountainous areas where any vehicle, but especially large trucks, become guided missiles if the brakes fail. I always appreciated having one as I traveled between Phoenix and Flagstaff.

Is this between Jerome and Prescott? As I recall, there is one on that road coming down Mingus Mt. Or maybe I'm thinking of another spot. Either way - it's a scary reminder of what could go wrong!
