Turtle Dove Chick

This little dove chick was blown out of the nest when a dust devil came through our yard. For those of you who might not know, a dust devil is a strong, well formed whirlwind. They form as a swirling updraft on sunny days. They look like a mini tornado but are rarely as strong as one.

It tried to climb back up the tree because it was too young to fly.
The parent birds were feeding it and moved it to a juniper bush. What happened to it after that I don't know.

Hopefully this little one will survive. A tough start.

It is my hope that it is somewhere safe, but one never knows what might happen!

Poor baby, I hope it survived.

Hopefully mom and dad were able to keep it safe. It looks like it's close to being a fledgling.

I also hope that it pulled through.

It looks big enough that it should make it okay.
