Theme Day...Upside Down

I took this picture many, many years ago.  I was at the post office on a Saturday just before they closed at noon and noticed that the flag was upside down. I mentioned it to the clerk and she said they had been informed of that several times already. I guess they didn't want to take the time to fix it so just left it that way all morning until they closed at noon. This would have been in the late 1990's if I remember right. It was on film and I scanned it to post today. It took me a while to find this photo. I almost gave up.

Interesting that they continued to let it fly. I'm impressed that you dug it out from so long ago to share with us!

Hmmmm. I'm surprised no one fixed it! Sure is a perfect photo for the July theme, though.

an upside down flag is used as a distress signal.

I'm glad you found this photo. It's perfect for the theme even if it's rather distressful that the post office left it this way all morning.

I'm glad that you found the image. I'm also glad that Dennis W. interpreted the meaning for us. . . never knew that it was a distress signal. I am distressed that the local post office had so little regard for the flag, tho.

Great theme day shot! Thanks for taking the time to find it. I wonder if any of the people working at the post office back then are still working there today?

Strange that they didn't right it after being told of the error. Unless they really were in distress. I've heard some distressed patrons in that post office from time to time!

What a story and the photo to go with it! I'm glad you found it so that you could use it as your Theme Day post. Wow!

I should think that it is an offence to fly your national flag uposide-down. Glad you hunted around for it though.

Now that is something I have never seen. You prove that it can happen. Super theme day photo.

I wouldn't have known it to be a distress signal.
