This is all that is left of the famous Bird Cage Saloon on Whiskey Row after a fire broke out Tuesday evening and burned three businesses. (See yesterday's post for a wider shot of the fronts of the buildings.)
I took this picture from the top of the parking garage behind the burned buildings. You can see the fireman looking out the window into the charred remains. Besides the Bird Cage Saloon, Bare Bones BBQ and the Food Store all sustained extensive damage.

Today's Phoenix newspaper has an article about this. Your photos are like a newspaper photographer's.
Fires are terrifying. Top photo is excellent.
So sad.
This was a disaster for your town square!
When I saw this on the news, I wondered if you would get down there to get some photos. It's very sad. I hope they are able to rebuild.
Good job, Judy Reporter-Photographer!
How awful...amazing that you got that top view, did you climb a light pole? I like the new look of your blog.
Whoops, I'm not a very good reader sometimes...you said you were on the parking garage, shame on me!
I see that one thing that survived the fire was the ATM machine. This is too sad.
Great photos. I hope businesses were insurance protected.
