Turkey Vulture

I have been trying to get a close up of one of these birds for a while now. This one isn't as sharp as I had hoped but you can get an idea for the 'beauty' of the turkey vulture. When you see them flying they look so graceful and even elegant.  I'm not sure I would use that description for the close up.
This is what they look like flying.

We have tons of these here in Florida; some with red heads and some with black. They are wonderful birds, keeping the environment clean! Sometimes, when flying, I can't tell them from hawks. These are both super shots!

I've seen these guys up close before and always thought the look much better from a distance.

WE call them buzzards here. Turkey vulture sounds a bit more civilized!

I saw them in Central and South America but never managed to take a proper shot of them. You were luckier than me, Judy. :-)
