There is a section of Clarkdale that has rows of these cute houses that I have always liked. I don't know what the name of this style of architecture is but I always called them the salt block houses because they were all white and square. Most of them have been painted other colors now.

I like them, too, but they're probably a little too small for my taste. The architecture does reflect a Spanish/western style and reminds me a bit of our house in Los Angeles back in the mid-40s.

That's a good name for them. I remember a couple of house like this in Quincy when we were kids. I didn't know what to call them but I liked them.
The "salt block houses" seem like a good name for these. They sound easy to take care of and certainly more attractive when painted.
I believe they were all built by the company that ran the smelter or the mines or both and leased at low rates to their employees. They are definitely cute little bungalows and we entertained the idea of buying one once upon a time.
I agree with house does look like Spanish style homes you see in California.
