Driving To Alaska....The Train

The White Pass & Yukon Railroad Skagway, Alaska

We didn't ride the train but I think it would be a wonderful trip.

There were three huge cruise ships docked in Skagway when we were there so the town was busy and full of tourists.

I found this rock wall full of graffiti
at the dock and thought it was interesting.
On the back of that big skull is written,
"Soapy Smith's Skull".

The front of this building was
decorated with driftwood.

The rigors of your drive to Alaska is probably an explanation for he presence of cruise ships.

A train ride would be worth the drive from here to there.

What an interesting "frontier" to visit! Love the engine and that would be my favorite mode of travel. When my nephew lived in Alaska, the residents of conscience hated the cruise ships because of the environmental damage, but the merchants, I suppose, loved the tourist trade.

The train is wonderful and I like the driftwood trim on the building...but I can live without the graffiti!

It looks like there was quite a lot to see in Skagway. That train shot at the top is simply gorgeous.

What a great series of photos...you've made this place come alive by capturing some of the spirit therein.

Oh, I'm enjoying your trip to Alaska. My cousin lives in Anchorage and his kids and ours fly back and forth, but hubby and I have never been to Alaska. I think if we did, we would drive, too! Good to know about the roads.
