Dramatic Sculpture

A dramatic sculpture stands in the middle of the small town of Reserve, New Mexico.
The man depicted is Elfego Baca, a lawman, who became famous after the "Frisco Shootout".

The story is told on the plaque below.  Click on the picture to make it bigger.

If you are interested and can't read the plaque pictured here, you can find several web sites using his name or by using Frisco Shootout.

The sculpture is very dramatic and reminds me that it really was the wild west. Back in the 1950's when I was a kid I remember watching "The Nine Lives of Elfego Baca" on the Walt Disney TV show.

All that after a drunk used his gun. An interesting story it is.

What a dramatic sculpture and an equally dramatic story.

A fascinating story. What a guy. Can't imagine what he went through and yet survived!

Dramatic story but I must admit I don't like this kind of sculpture...

I went to a Wikipedia web site and read about him. Fascinating character. Really the Good, Bad and Ugly.

Not only a dramatic sculpture but a Wild West story, too.
