The life size bronze statue of Elizabeth Smith, the original owner of the Hassayampa Hotel in Wickenburg, by artisit J. Seward Johnson, waves to all who pass by the corner. She was said to be the best cook for miles around. People traveled all the way from Phoenix in the 1800's to eat at her restaurant. That would have been a long trip by horseback or stage.

I've always liked the sound of that word - ha-SAY-yaum-pa!
It's a beautiful building.
The name is a mouthful but has a certain resonance to it. Love the old building and the sculpture. Can't imagine someone coming all the way from Phoenix just to eat at her restaurant. Amazing!
Nice shots. I meet my first rattlesnake on the Hassayampa river.
Such a nice hotel!
