Not far from Dawson is the start of the Dempster Highway, started in the early 70's. It goes some 800 miles up to the village of Inuvik on the Artic Sea. The first 50 miles follows the Klondike river. I've driven up it twice for about 400 miles, an amazing wilderness road. The times I drove it there were no facilities on it, you had to have enough gas to make it back with you. I did a post about the trip a couple years ago on my blog.
Good old Robert Service. I can still remember my dad reading me the poem about Dangerous Dan McGrew when I was a little kid. I now have a book of Service's poetry on my shelf.

You definitely got a wealth of outstanding photos on your Alaskan adventure.
Wonderful shots. I love the writing style in the second image.

I agree with Sharon.

A poignant poem, and a lovely church.
