Windy Landing

It took some good piloting to land in the Tim's Toyota Center parking lot in Prescott Valley on a day with winds gusting over 40 MPH. It was a police, fire and military expo that was held a few months ago and I never got around to posting it.. They had planned to have a Black Hawk helicopter but it was too windy for it to land in the parking lot between the light posts. This one is the Yavapai County search and rescue helicopter.

I've never had the pleasure of flying in a chopper. It's not on my bucket list, either. I'll let other people do that.

But the people who use these to protect and serve should be congratulated...and the search and rescue people have saved lots of lives down through the years!

The wind does batter these guys around a lot.

I think they should err on the side of caution and safety when it comes to exhibitions. I have seen fatalities occur at an air show, and have also seen two helicopters collide and crash to the ground.

I can only think that if I was there I would love watching these skill pilots do their thing. Wonderful shots.

Lots of skill involved here.

I've ridden in helicopters between Midway Airport and O'Hare in Chicago when I still was a flight attendant; never enjoyed the ride.

Back in the day I hitched a ride with the infamous Jerry Foster once when he landed in Barry Goldwater's driveway.
