Sculpture Close Ups

I went back and got some close up shots of the sculpture that I posted yesterday.  This one shows the shovel and the decapitated rattlesnake.

This is the snake head, on the ground by the hem of her skirt.

I do have to say, I am not as brave as this woman. On the rare occasions that I have seen a rattlesnake, I have left them alone and moved out of striking distance as fast as possible.

I think your approach to rattlesnakes is wiser than the one taken by this woman whose derring-do has been sculpted for all to see! It is possible that the length of a shovel is not long enough to avoid the bite of the snake. :)

Hmmm. I'm sure I would not have been as brave either!

She appears to be the epitome of a “formidable woman”.

I keep wondering "why the blue sash?"

I assume the sash is in honor of the firefighters who perished in Yarnell. Not quite the purple color but close.

She's my hero!

Same here :-)
I like the way there is some color added around this sculpture. Sculptures of this kind sometimes appear a little bit sad to me.
