Abandoned

An old abandoned gas station and garage is being overgrown with bushes along the old Route 66 in Northern Arizona.

This makes me think of a painting I saw yesterday at the Celebration of Art in Scottsdale. It was of an old Mobile station with the red flying horse. For some reason it made me think of dad.

And the new gas stations on the Interstate are just not the same. Actually, the opposite is part of the problem. The new gas stations all seem the same.

The "76" really stands out and I love it. :-)

We drove Route 66 a number of times...wonder if I ever stopped here?

It doesn't take long for a place like this to deteriorate when not in use.

And now it's an iconic symbol of another time and place which I think was simpler and less stressful.
